Playbill pick BATSU!, the cross-cultural comedy experience, will return to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for a second year, featuring an international cast of over 30 performers at Underbelly’s Cowgate. Performances will run August 1-25.
Batsu (罰 or ばつ), the Japanese word for punishment or penalty, is the foundation of the hit show as four warriors face off in hilarious challenges where the losers receive shocks, paintballs, and other jaw-dropping punishments.

Lauded by Playbill as “truly our favorite thing we’ve ever seen, anywhere,” BATSU! originally premiered in Manhattan’s East Village in 2011. The production has ongoing shows in New York City, Chicago, and London.

BATSU! Edinburgh will feature an ensemble of over 30 performers from the shows New York City, Chicago, and London productions, with at least one actor from each city represented in every show. The Edinburgh production will specifically feature Abe Abraham, Frank Angelini, Liam Arnold, Whit Baldwin, Jacqui Bardelang, Ena Begovic, Jen Bergum, Kelsey Blackwell, Cameron Carnegie Brown, Trev Cole, Brandon Drap, Gregory Fung, Courtnay Griswold, Pika Hoop, David Hoskins, Mariko Iwasa, Nicky Khor, Jin Kim, Cassie Middlemist, Jay Miller, Tim Neeser, Jay Painter, Eric Robinson, Miu Soda, Sanj Surati, Joe Tex, Brian Walters, Lorraine Yu, and Steve Zegers.
